About Bumpas

Also known as a ritual vase, the bumpa is typically used during Vajrayana Buddhist rituals. These include prayer ceremonies such as the rabney consecration puja, purification rituals such as trüsol and chabtrü, and tantric empowerments and initiations.

In general, bumpas are filled with water mixed with saffron and other ritual substances such as chagyu bumze or lamey bumze, depending on the type of ritual being performed. It is usually used in combination with a traditional Tibetan mirror and bumpa flourish made from peacock feathers.
