An emanation of Buddha Akshobhya, Vajrapani represents the spiritual power and skilful means of all the Buddhas. His outstretched right hand brandishes a vajra and his left hand holds a lasso with which he binds demons. He wears a skull crown with his hair standing on end. His expression is wrathful and he has a third eye. Around his neck is a serpent necklace and his loincloth is made up of the skin of a tiger, whose head can be seen on his right knee.
Vajrapani is part of the enlightened trinity known as Rigsum Gonpo or the "Lords of the Three Families” which comprises Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri and Vajrapani. He is also the central figure of the combined triple deity practice known as Trakpo Sumtril, which includes Hayagriva and King Garuda.
For practitioners, his path of practice is a means of accomplishing fierce determination and symbolises unrelenting effectiveness in the conquest of negativity. It was Vajrapani who requested Buddha Shakyamuni to teach many of the Tantras that are practised today. He will be the last of the Buddhas to appear in this fortunate eon, therefore keeping his image and making a connection to him will be of great benefit to us.
This statue has been inserted with mantras, holy rilbus, herbal rilbus, and protector rice. You can further personalise this statue with a hand-painted face using real gold dust. You can also offer brocade clothing, pearls and semi-precious stones, as H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche always encouraged the practice of making offerings to the Three Jewels, which creates the causes for us to attain the six paramitas (perfections).
Get a complimentary set of Herbal Rilbus for every statue you invite.
