An oxidised-finish copper statue of the Dharma Protector Kalarupa and his consort Tsamundi, hand-carved with full iconographic detail according to traditional scriptural sources. Keeping his image in the home or place of work is excellent for dispelling harmful spirits and black magic.
Kalarupa is the universal protector for all Tibetan Buddhist lineages and the special Protector of the small scope of the Lamrim. He is also the special protector of Yamantaka practitioners and he clears the obstacles that hinder their spiritual progress.
His potent puja known as Druchuma protects against spirit disturbances and black magic, ensures smoothness in life's journey, and helps practitioners develop the wisdom to overcome anger problems, especially anger that may arise during Yamantaka retreats.
Also known as Choegyal in Tibetan, Kalarupa has the face of a buffalo. His appearance is a teaching that the karmic effect of anger (arising from ignorance) is “ugly”. His form sits on a lotus, symbolising that everything he does originates from a mind of compassion, no matter how fearsome he looks.
As one of Manjushri's many emanations, Kalarupa’s practice ultimately helps us to destroy ignorance and develop wisdom to overcome our anger and suffering. Anyone from any lineage who is determined to reduce or cut out their anger can practise Kalarupa.
This statue can be personalised with a hand-painted face using real gold dust or insertion of mantras and holy items. You can also offer traditional brocade clothing, pearls and semi-precious stones, as H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche always encouraged the practice of making offerings to the Three Jewels, which creates the causes for us to attain the Six Paramitas (perfections).
