“No living being is too small or insignificant for our compassion.”
We constantly see this wisdom in all of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche’s actions, continually reminding us of his encompassing love that reaches out to all living beings.
Inspired by Rinpoche, Kechara is committed to help and care for animals in any way we can - including those abandoned or abused, sick or diseased, with no one to turn to for help and survival.
The Kechara Forest Retreat is home to 25 birds, each rescued from a life of captivity, abuse and neglect by H.E. Tsem Rinpoche. A purpose-built aviary was constructed to allow them to stretch their wings unencumbered, and live out the rest of their natural lives in a lush, spacious and stimulating environment, safe from harm and predators.
The retreat centre is also home to two tortoises and a number of cats and dogs, and every effort is made to feed, care and provide for our furry and feathered friends.
The act of extending kindness and compassion to animals is among the highest practices of unconditional love because animals cannot repay our kindness in ways we may expect. Supporting animal care activities also creates the causes for long life - for the animals, for oneself, and for those to whom the prayers are dedicated.
Not everyone has the space, resources or ability to care for animals like H.E. Tsem Rinpoche. However, you can take the first step by contributing to the Animal Care Fund that pays the bills for their food, supplements, medical care, utilities and upkeep of the facilities.
With the help of caring people like you, these animals and many others will have a good home and food for the rest of their lives.
