Sponsor a "lot" of land in Kechara Forest Retreat, which will contribute towards the cost of the land and the upkeep of temple facilities. Contributing to the building of a monastery or a place of worship is a highly meritorious act, as taught by many ancient masters who came before. Buddha himself described the benefits of building monasteries to King Sangyal — that they will always have incredible wealth and power in future lives, and will eventually attain enlightenment.

Making a Donation

  1. Set a positive intention before making a donation. The purer your intention, the greater the merit generated.
  2. Select your desired amount and style of sponsorship (where applicable).
  3. In the “Sponsor” section: Provide the name of the sponsor (benefactor).
  4. In the “Dedication” section: Provide the name of the person/entity the sponsorship is dedicated to. You can include a specific wish or request. This will be read during the dedication of merits.
  5. After making the donation, rejoice and dedicate the merits you have generated.
  6. From time to time, we share updates of various projects on our website and social media pages (Facebook and Instagram). Please follow us if you would like to stay informed.

If you are uncertain which project is best suited to your interests or needs, please contact us for assistance.

Sponsoring the Temple

Over 2,500 years ago, the Buddha taught the Dharma to bring living beings out of suffering. His precious teachings are kept alive in Dharma centres, temples and monasteries — physical places where spiritual seekers can find solace, advice and help.

In Buddhism, contributing towards the preservation and spread of the teachings is one of the highest forms of generosity. That’s why sponsoring the temple and contributing to its upkeep and facilities is a core practice in all Buddhist traditions. One way to do this is by making donations and offerings at places of worship where Buddha’s teachings are alive and well. Kechara Forest Retreat is one such place.

Buddha taught that sponsors who help to build and maintain holy temples, or contribute towards its daily operations will gain great merits, enjoy incredible wealth and power in future lives, and eventually attain enlightenment. As the great Indian yogi, Nagden Pawo said:

“Anyone who contributes to the building of a temple, no matter how small that contribution is, even if it is just requesting others for donations, continuously collects tremendous merits even as they go about their daily lives.”

Your generosity in supporting our temple will allow Buddha’s sacred teachings and Lama Tsongkhapa’s precious lineage to be preserved in this peaceful, holy environment, bringing benefit to others for many generations to come. In return, you’ll receive a stream of daily merits for prosperity, good health, removal of obstacles, protection, abundance and fulfilment of wishes.

About Kechara Forest Retreat

“Since I was a young child, I wanted to create a place where people come together to live as one with nature, one with the earth; a place for healing, detoxification, contemplation, relaxation and retreat.

An international centre for meditation courses not based on religion but tapping into ourselves and our potential. A place for eco-living modelled on sustainability and growth.

This project is Kechara Forest Retreat and it will be a space to inspire the world to do the same in their own communities.”

– Tsem Rinpoche

Since our inception in 2012, Kechara Forest Retreat has grown to become a renowned Tibetan Buddhist Retreat and Wellness centre, known for result-focused spiritual and meditational programmes.

Our 35-acre centre in the exurban forest enclave of Bentong, Pahang is also a sacred ground, home to a pantheon of Tibetan deities and holy sites. It is here, amidst the lush verdant highlands that we impart a contemporary presentation of Buddhist teachings and practices, to bring you closer to Buddha’s wisdom in the Tibetan spiritual tradition.
