Yamantaka is the wrathful emanation of Lord Manjushri, who is the supreme embodiment of the Buddha’s wisdom. His practice offers a profound and quick method of purifying heavy negative karma, and allows the practitioner to swiftly achieve attainments and ultimately Enlightenment in a single lifetime. He also grants powerful protection against the most wrathful spirits, black magic and curses.
Yamantaka arises in the form of a blue-black body with a bull-head, 8 other ferocious faces, 32 hands holding various sharp implements and 16 legs to carry his short and stout body. However, contrary to our initial impression, he does not harm but instead focuses his wrath at our negative emotions and self-grasping ways. He is known as the ultimate destroyer of the Lord of Death and to behold him is to behold his ferocious compassion.
Keeping his image and making offerings and prayers to him will grant great protection, the blessings of a Buddha, and create a connection to receive and benefit from his practice in the future.
This Yamantaka statue can be personalised with mantra insertion, traditional brocade clothing, or offerings of pearls and semi-precious stones, as H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche always encouraged the practice of making offerings to the Three Jewels, which creates the causes for us to attain the Six Paramitas (perfections).
