Description

Details

Inspired by Buddha's teachings on impermanence, this Tibetan-style mala (prayer beads or Buddhist rosary) is handmade from 108 natural yak bone beads, accented with howlite skull dividers at the 21st position and a bone skull divider at the 54th position. Wood and metal markers and Indian red tassels complete the design. A pair of matching yak bone mala counters is included to help you keep track of your mantra recitations during retreats and extended prayer sessions.

Each bead has been carefully selected for its significance and symbology.

  • Bone is one of the best materials for malas as recommended in the scriptures, as they are a reminder of our mortality. Bone also collects merit for the creature from whose bones the beads are made, even though their consciousness has passed from their original form to another.

  • Skulls are a reminder of our precious human rebirth and that we should live life meaningfully through virtuous deeds.
