Details
A traditional substance used in Tibetan Buddhist rituals, primarily naga-related offerings and pujas, Lumen Rilbu is available in traditional pill form and can be:
- Crushed and added to the incense mixture when making incense offerings to the nagas.
- Crushed and added to the traditional "three white and three sweet" torma ingredients when making torma offerings to the nagas.
- Added to milk offerings for nagas.
- Used for naga-related pujas e.g. lutor and lusang.
One of the eight classes of spirits, nagas are serpent-like in form and live primarily in water bodies and to a lesser extent are associated with earth and trees. They are powerful beings whose abilities include controlling the weather, bringing good fortune and wealth, and enhancing fertility and positivity. Conversely, nagas can also inflict diseases, obstacles and natural disasters when displeased.
Naga pujas and offerings are primarily performed to appease nagas that may have been offended, or to please nagas that are active in areas where one wishes to live, work or conduct business.
WITH ENHANCED BLESSINGS
Rilbus have been purified and consecrated in a Soongdrup ritual conducted by very senior members of the monastic community held in early June 2017 at Kechara Forest Retreat.
