Description
Details
Guhyasamaja has three faces and six hands, peaceful in appearance, blue-black in colour and seated in vajra posture. His main face is dark blue, the face on the right side is either yellow or gold and the face on the left is red and each is adorned with the third all seeing eye or wisdom eye. He is usually depicted embracing his consort, Sparshavajra, and his main pair of hands hold a vajra and a bell, symbols of male and female, compassion and wisdom, skillful means and emptiness—the duality that constitutes enlightenment.
One of the earliest Buddhist tantras to come out of India, Guhyasamaja's tantra is an essential part of Highest Yoga Tantra, and studying it facilitates the understanding of other Tantras of the same class. In fact, its propagation and practice is seen as instrumental to the continued flourishing of Buddhism in general and the higher yoga tantras in particular.
Guhyasamaja's puja bestows all the benefits commonly associated with tantric pujas including the transformation of one's mind, purification of past negative actions, pacification of obstacles, and the accumulation of merits, wealth, attainments and general harmony. While self-practice is only available for those who are initiated, the Guhyasamaja puja set allows non-initiates to receive the benefits of his protection, to collect immense merits and to create a connection with this powerful tantric Buddha, whose blessings become more powerful with every passing day.
Available as a set of three tantric pujas comprising Guhyasamaja's sadhana, self-initiation and tsok.
