Description

Details

A stunning gold-plated copper statue of the powerful Dharma Protector Six-Armed Mahakala, handcrafted with full iconographic detail according to traditional scriptural sources. Complete with a hand-painted gold face, wrathful deity features and jewel offerings, it is an excellent focal point and meditation aid for your daily practice.

Six-Armed Mahakala is a wrathful emanation of Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion. He is the special protector of the highest scope of the Lamrim and is propitiated to aid in the study, contemplation and realisation of the highest scope of the teachings.

This enlightened Dharma Protector who is also known as ‘The Great Black’ is invoked by all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Every part of his holy form has deep spiritual meaning, no matter how fearsome he looks. His five-skull crown symbolises the transformation of the five poisons - anger, desire, ignorance, jealousy and pride — into the five wisdoms. His six arms represent the attainment of the Six Perfections (Six Paramitas) - generosity, patience, morality, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. Overall, his wrathful appearance symbolises his power to help us overcome negativities, obstacles and provide conducive conditions for our spiritual practice.

This Mahakala statue can be personalised with traditional mantra insertion or brocade clothing such as a Tibetan-style tule and pangden. You can also offer pearls and semi-precious stones, as H.E. Tsem Rinpoche always encouraged the practice of making offerings to the Three Jewels, which creates the causes for us to attain the Six Paramitas (perfections).
