Rinpoche's life is an inspiring example of one who has lived only to benefit others; one who never gave up the Dharma despite the difficulties and sufferings that he faced. Skilfully sharing spiritual wisdom to all and never turning his compassion away from anyone in need. Rinpoche's caring, patient, skilful, wise, compassionate, kind and generous qualities were apparent to anyone near or far.
When Rinpoche passed into parinirvana on September 4th, 2019, the world lost a towering beacon of goodness and hope. To create the necessary causes and conditions for His swift return back among us, there are many things that we, as disciples, must do. Apart from following Rinpoche’s precious advice and continuing the Dharma activities Rinpoche started, there is a pressing need to erect sacred stupas to enshrine Rinpoche’s holy relics. This is a Tibetan Buddhist tradition to create the energy to draw the lama’s incarnation home and for disciples to create the merit for this to occur quickly.
In September 2020, the Indoor Relic Stupa was completed in time for Rinpoche’s one-year parinirvana anniversary. In July 2022, we completed the assembly of the Outdoor Relic Stupa and the construction of the Tsem Rinpoche Relic Temple, a permanent spiritual memorial situated in the beautiful grounds of Kechara Forest Retreat.
However, more remains to be done. We aim to complete the final phase of the Relic Stupa Project by September 2023, with the creation of a 7ft statue of Tsem Rinpoche alongside a 7ft statue of Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen. We will also be starting the process of searching, recognising and enthroning Rinpoche's new incarnation.
We urge you to share our heartfelt wish for Rinpoche's swift return, and request for your kind and generous contributions so that Rinpoche's life and enlightened deeds can be honoured in a manner befitting his status and rank. Your contributions will help us with:
- Special pujas advised by Rinpoche (prior to his parinirvana) and other High Lamas to be performed on a yearly basis
- Traditional puja ceremonies performed every 7th day during the 49-day period following Rinpoche's parinirvana
- Daily offerings of light, incense ('sang') and flowers
- Funeral ceremony expenses which include fire pujas, prayers and rituals, construction of the funeral stupa, extensive offerings, puja substances, and all other associated costs
- Construction of indoor and outdoor stupas to enshrine Rinpoche's relics
- Extensive consecration rituals for the Relic Temple and Stupas
- Sponsorship and expenses for High Lamas and monks who will conduct the prayer ceremonies
- Expenses related to the search, recognition and enthronement of Rinpoche's new incarnation
